Callbreak Guide
2023-04-26
Callbreak is a popular South Asian trick-taking card game that can be played with 4 players, each dealt 13 cards. It is similar to the game of Bridge, but much simpler and easier to understand. In Callbreak, the objective is to win as many rounds as possible by correctly predicting the number of tricks you can win.

To start the game, the 52-card deck is shuffled and the dealer deals a set of 13 cards to each player. The game consists of 5 rounds, and in each round, one player is designated as the dealer. The dealer is responsible for dealing the cards, starting with the player to his/her right.

The player to the left of the dealer has to make the first bid, predicting the number of tricks he/she can win in the round. The other players, in clockwise order, also have to make their bids. The sum of all the bids cannot be equal to the number of tricks that can be won in that round, so players have to be careful while making their bids.

Once all the players have made their bids, the game begins. The player to the right of the dealer starts the game by playing any card from their hand. The other players then have to play a card of the same suit if possible, and if not, they can play any card from their hand.

The player who plays the highest ranked card of the same suit as the first card played wins that trick. If no cards of the same suit are played, the player who played the highest ranked card of any suit wins the trick. The winner of the trick leads the next trick.

The game continues until all 13 tricks have been played. Once the round is over, the players’ bids are compared with the number of tricks won by each player. Points are awarded to the players based on their performance. If a player wins exactly the number of tricks they bid, they get 10 points plus the number of tricks they won. If a player wins more than the number of tricks they bid, they get 1 point for each extra trick won. If a player fails to win the number of tricks they bid, they get no points.

The game is played for 5 rounds and the player with the most points at the end of the game wins. If there is a tie, additional rounds are played until there is a clear winner.

Callbreak is a game that requires strategy, skill and a bit of luck. Players need to be aware of the cards in their hand and try to predict what their opponents may have. Keeping track of the cards played and the tricks won is also important to make accurate predictions.

Overall, Callbreak is a fun and exciting game that can be enjoyed by players of all ages. It is easy to learn and can provide hours of entertainment. So gather some friends, grab a deck of cards, and give Callbreak a try!
